Healthcare systems in the Middle East and Africa are under increased pressure to deliver high-quality and efficient care due to a number of demographic changes, including rapid urbanisation, ageing populations and a rising burden of chronic diseases. The sector is consequently witnessing significant growth and governments’ increased focus on prevention and well-being, as opposed to only treatment, is also creating new opportunities for the provision of community care and out-of-hospital services.

The role of the private sector is therefore set to grow, including through an increase of Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), as is the smart application of digital technologies, artificial intelligence and robotics to address shortages of clinical staff.
